July Program: Bur-Mil Greenway and Trail Walk

We traditionally substitute a walk for our July meeting. We invite you to come along on the evening walk in Bur-Mil Park (come directly to Bur-Mil instead of to the library). We will meet at 7:00 PM at the last shelter, below the Nature Center, just above the greenway and Lake Brandt. Our walk will begin heading south on a shaded section of the greenway, then, just past a small lake, we'll turn onto the Little Loop, a nice trail through the forest which takes us over varied terrain (some elevation gain/loss) through a mixed hardwood forest. We'll see a nice variety of trees, some fairly old and large, as we meander back to the greenway. This walk is a good example of the easy pleasant walks to be found at Bur-Mil Park. It is a perfect summer evening walk since almost all of it is shaded and it will be taken at a leisurely pace. Come enjoy this easy walk through the woods with us.

Bur-Mil Park is located on Battleground Ave/220 North, near the edge of the city limits. It is a couple of minutes N of the Horsepen Creek Rd/Battleground Ave. intersection, on the right not long before reaching Lake Brandt. Call any officer of the Club (listed on the back of the newsletter) if you have questions about the directions.

The pre-dinner meeting for our July program will be held on July 8 at 5:45 at San Luis Mexican restaurant, which is located on 1503 W. Lee Street. Please join us and RSVP Dick Mearns at dick_mearns@bellsouth.net by July 7.

August Program: There will be no August Program.
