This 11-mile, moderately difficult backpack is in the mountains surrounding the highest large valley in Virginia, which is shaped like a bowl. Although the route is on the Appalachian Trail, tents will be used, rather than shelters. The changing of the leaves will provide beautiful views during the outing.
