Kayak Lake Jordon Backwaters

When:

Sunday, May 18, 2008
Contact the Leader

Details:

Kayak the backwater of beautiful, but environmentally threatened Jordan Lake.  As we look for wildlife, we'll discuss why the lake is presently pollutted and what the Sierra Club is doing to promote public awareness and legislative action on this problem.

We will be paddling initially on open water to a swampy area, over a beaver dam, and then into one of the many creeks that flow into Jordan Lake.  Wildlife that are often encountered in this area include, eagles, osprey, blue herons, beaver, and deer.  Participants should bring bottled water, insect spray (if desired), a hat, sunglasses, sun lotion, water shoes (or old sneakers), and quick drying clothing.  Boats, life jackets, & paddles are available to lend, but space is limited.

To see a topo map of the area we'll explore see the "read more at this website" link below.
