Saturday- Moses Cone Carriage Trails Day Hike

When:

Saturday, Dec 01, 2007

Details:

In 1901, when Moses Cone built Flat Top Manor for his wife Bertha, he
constructed a labyrinth of carriage trails to accommodate their daily
buggy rides around the 3,500-acre estate.  The result is a series
of looping, interlocking, wide, and relatively level trails in Moses
Cone Park on the Blue Ride Parkway near Blowing Rock.  Weather
permitting, please join us for a moderate hike of five to six miles as we explore the trails and then rest on the front porch of the Manor House with its sweeping panoramic view of the beautiful winter vistas in the valley below.   Warm, layered clothing
and hiking boots or sturdy shoes are required.  Also bring water, lunch
or snacks, and rain gear.  Well-behaved dogs are welcome.
