Road No Longer Threatens Smokies

A debate that has raged for decades over a proposed road through the wildest part of the Smokies may be drawing to a positive conclusion for the Park.

Outlying Landing Field

The United States Navy proposes to place an outlying landing field (OLF) in Washington and Beaufort Counties, NC, just 3.5 miles from the Pocosin National Wildlife Refuge, one of the most important waterfowl reserves in North America.
