Goose Creek State Park, Beaufort County

Details:

This year we will include the new Tar Kiln Trail that many Cypress Sierra members helped to construct. We will learn about park acquisition and development and the wildlife and woodlands of this state park.  We will also learn about drought impact on trees and animals.  Meet at the parking lot on the northeast side of JCPenney in Greenville at 9:00 a.m. to carpool or at the park's Envirionmental Education and Visitor Center at 10:00 a.m.  Pack a lunch and dress appropriately for the weather and for hiking a few miles.  There will be "early finish" options.  Trip starts at the trailhead.

Directions:

NEAR: Washington NC

 Goose Creek State Park is located in Beaufort County on the north side of the Pamlico River. Follow US 264 east. through Washington.  Continue on US 264 east for 10 miles. Then turn right onto Camp Leach Road and travel 2.3 miles to the park entrance.
