Jason's Hiking Trip to the Mountains

Saturday I went on a trip to the mountains. Other kids from the after school went on the trip also. My mom and Ms. Stephanie and another parent went with us also. The leader was Mr. G. He was really nice to us. I'm guessing that it took 40 miles to get there. When we finally got there, we first stopped at the bathrooms. I chose to stay outside and bury acorns instead of using the bathroom. So I took my chances. When everybody was done, we got back on the van and drove to the State Park, where we stopped again to go to the bathroom real quick. When everyone, including me, was done, we finally had lunch. Everyone ate a sandwich with everything inside, except for me because I didn't like bologna or ham, so I ate a mustard sandwich and chips. When we were finished drinking and eating, we started up the mountain. First, we lifted up rocks and saw worms under them. I put one of them in the ant hole, but it didn't die. Finally we went up the mountain. I was too scared because I thought we would have to climb the mountain, and I said, "I'm too scared to go up there." Gary told me not to worry, and we went on up. I thought we had to climb, but there was a trail we could walk on. The trail was getting tiring. It went up hill a lot. We stopped at large rocks and climbed them and took some pictures. We kept on going until we were finally at the top. It was really scary! I didn't really want to go to the edge, but I still did. We found a lizard under a rock at the top, but we didn't catch it because it ran too fast and it had sharp claws, I didn't care because I was brave. At the top of the mountain, all the rocks were white and there were some trees in the middle. We could even see the van from the top. Finally, when we were finished looking at the view, we went back down. We went back down a different trail-the Rock Fox. Some people were slow. On the way back, we did an experiment. We walked by ourselves and I was the first one there. I think that Mr. G was the last person. Once everybody got to the ending rock, we rested for awhile and looked at the view. There we saw a little puppy that's name was Burkly. Then we moved on. We decided to do another experiment and walk alone and think until we got to the parking lot where we had the van. I was happy that we finally got to the van. Before we got in the van, we had a little snack. Then we got in the van and we started driving back to Boys & Girls Club. I felt happy about the day, and I wasn't even tired when we got back, I enjoyed my day, and liked spending it outside instead of watching TV. THE END
