A Word About Outings
All Sierra Club outings and events are open to the public. You do not have to be a member to attend. Outings are considered educational unless designated as social (S).  Please join us!
Waivers - All outings participants are required to sign a standard liability waiver. If you would like to read the liability waiver before you chose to participate on an outing, please go to: http://www.sierraclub.org/outings/chapter/forms/, or contact Charles Kernan at 910-538-9711.

Bring- Water, food and raingear.

Weather - Trips go unless hazardous conditions exist. Call leader when in doubt.

Difficulty Level - Hikers should make sure their ability and equipment match the difficulty of the outing.
Easy:  0-5 miles and elevation changes up to 1000 feet.
Moderate: 5-10 miles or elevation change 1000 to 2500 feet.
Strenuous:  >10 miles or elevation change of more than 2500 ft.

Carpooling– Trips officially begin at the trailhead.  Participants are encouraged to carpool, but must arrange carpools among themselves at the arranged meeting site – it is not the responsibility of the leader.  If you carpool, offer to reimburse the driver.

Watercraft -- The Cape Fear Group does not provide canoes or kayaks for paddling trips.  However, the outings chair may be able to give you the name of someone who might share a canoe with you.

First Aid - Cape Fear Group leaders carry basic first aid supplies. It is recommended that they be qualified/certified to the degree of difficulty of the outing. They may or may not be officially certified in first aid and CPR.  Participants sign a disclaimer and participate at their own risk.

RADIOS AND FIREARMS ARE PROHIBITED.

Pets -- Pets are permitted only when it is clearly stated that they are allowed.
